I made a living with my art living on the streets from 1987-2001. Where upon my dad got real sick with Cancer, and... I moved back to Florida.
Since that time I have gotten my Bachelor of Arts in History, published a book, and done a whole bunch of drawing... I also got arrested. Wot?!?! Yeah, I talked disrespectfully to some cops, while drunk <my bad>, and they said," Leave or go to jail..." only when I didn't get in a vehicle to drive away they came out and pretended like they were gonna give me a ride home... I knew they were gonna try to hurt me. Only, strangely their camera in their cars wasn't on...
When the first officer grabbed me without announcing himself. I did stick hands kung-fu to protect myself. They tazed me 7-8 times, but eventually cuffed me. Then charged me with felonies. It has taken me a year and a half and a LOT of stress to get them to give me a realistic offer in court that didn't involved being violated with felonies. Instead, 3 misdemeanors, and 2 years probation, no early term for one... Only... I've been trapped in Florida for a year and a half... ugh...
Right after the probation started I got offered a job offering decent pay, but it was over seas... The judge wouldn't let me take it as it was only 3 months into probation, but... the job market in Florida is pretty... awful.
So... I am trying for work here, and most of the jobs are pretty sub par... but this is a right to work state. If you don't know what that means.... Most of the jobs aren't gonna pay well, and they can fire you whenever they want... However, I have been trying for a teaching job. My legal stuff shouldn't interfere with that... and it will mean experience for future work.
Also, when I lived on the streets I used to recite poetry for a living. I have posted about 20 tracks on sound cloud so y'all can check that out... xoxo, MM
